Trans Am At Indianapolis: Cole Moore Delivers Dominant Victory

The legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway once again proved why it remains one of the most iconic venues in motorsports. The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli brought an exciting weekend of close competition, and the TA Cup field delivered one of its best races of the season.

Cole Moore continued his impressive 2026 campaign with a commanding victory in TA Cup, piloting the No. 89 JM Environmental / Moore Motorsports Ford Mustang to his third class win of the season. From qualifying through the checkered flag, Moore demonstrated exceptional pace and consistency, running with the overall TA field while controlling the TA Cup class. The victory also vaulted Moore into the TA Cup championship lead, making the battle for the title even more exciting heading into the next round.

Oregon's own Phil Fogg Jr. delivered another impressive performance, bringing the No. 67 Chris Evans Race Cars Ford Mustang home in second place. Fogg drove a clean, consistent race, staying out of trouble and maximizing championship points with a well-earned runner-up finish.

Jim Guthrie looked poised to challenge for the win after running a strong race near the front of the TA Cup field. Unfortunately, a late-race alternator failure ended his charge, dropping him down the order in the closing laps. While the result didn't reflect the speed of the No. 62 Guthrie's Garage Mustang, Guthrie's pace throughout the weekend showed he remains one of the top contenders in this year's championship fight.

The Indianapolis road course is one of the most demanding circuits on the Trans Am calendar, combining technical infield sections with high-speed acceleration onto the famous oval. Success at Indy requires a car that is balanced under braking, predictable through changing grip levels, and capable of maintaining speed over a long green-flag run.
